jack turns 8
And just like that, Jack turned 8…and is doing great!
_____
Lately, something remarkable has started happening:
we meet people who have no idea what Jack (or us) has been through.
As crazy as that feels, it is also such a gift. For so long, cancer, treatments, oxygen, appointments, and fear were woven into every part of our lives. Now, there are moments when we get to simply be a family. Jack gets to be a kid, and the rest of us get to live our own version of normal.
Sometimes, I even catch myself forgetting just how much we went through. I forget the weight of those difficult days because Jack is doing so well today. Since our last update in May, he has continued to thrive, lose weight, and remain stable. His scans are still every two to three months, and he has remained off chemotherapy since March.
Jack is sleeping without oxygen and is the healthiest he has been in a very long time. He traveled through Europe for two weeks, stayed at my parents for a week without us, is playing lacrosse and soccer full time. He loves going to every practice and is excited for every game.
Watching him run across a field, compete, travel, and enjoy life feels extraordinary…
even when it looks wonderfully ordinary to everyone else.
We know this journey has taught us not to take anything for granted.
There will always be scans, appointments, and moments when the worry quietly returns.
But right now, we are deeply thankful for where we are.
Thankful for stability.
Thankful for normalcy.
Thankful for the privilege of sometimes forgetting.
Our greatest hope is that this season continues, that Jack remains stable, healthy, and able to keep doing all the things he loves.
Thank you for continuing to love our family, pray for Jack, and always have his back.
